From the President:
|
Hello All! As the incoming President of Austin IFMA chapter, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve in this role. I know there has been and will be times my New England accent will come rolling off my tongue96 Please bear with me as we gather for monthly luncheons. 2015 has been a great year with several new faces on the committee teams and the addition of a few new sponsors. I believe this year=92s golf tournament will exceed our expectations with participants. We continue to be a part of this great organization for the peer networking and educational opportunities. Facility professionals are always meeting someone new, it's a great conversation starter to share news about IFMA and our Austin chapter.
The overall goals for my presidency is to encourage increased support from more professional members, maintain our membership count and bring a form of facility driven technical training in programs at least every quarter.
I will ask that you help make this a successful new year and make a point to attend a luncheon or an event if possible.
Thank you again for your support of the Austin Chapter of IFMA.

Energy Efficiency - More low hanging fruit
One of the easiest ways to save energy in a facility is to add variable speed drives (VFD) to your motor driven components. Even a small reduction in speed can result in significant savings. For instance, a centrifugal pump or fan running at 80% speed consumes only half of the energy compared to one running at full speed. These savings increase dramatically at every interval of speed reduction to meet or satisfy a load. Click here to see the simple calculations of savings that can be obtained by the application of VFD=92s to your existing equipment. Here is an additional link for more information on the subject.

Todd Coleman - Community Service Chair
First, a big thanks to all the volunteers who assist with the work days that are scheduled following some of our luncheons. We normally do not schedule these events during the summer due to the heat and limitations on personal time, but will resume our volunteer activities when the weather cools down. Stay tuned for more details. See you at the next luncheon.
